How to Create or Remove a Hanging Indent in Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft PowerPoint often uses a Hanging Indent, yet many of us may not be familiar with the term. Now that one of these can be made, it is to be anticipated that this page will explain what to do and how to delete it if necessary.

How to Use Hanging Indent In PowerPoint

Some people may recognise it as a negative indent, but do not worry—both are the same thing. As for what it really does, well, in most cases, it indents the initial text rather than the first line. This function may be present in Microsoft Word as well, where it is actually utilised more often.

Keep reading to learn something new; we can confidently state that adding a hanging indent to Microsoft PowerPoint is really simple.

  1. Open PowerPoint and enter some text.
  2. Make a paragraph indented.
  3. Remove the paragraph's indent

For a better understanding, let's talk about this matter in further depth.

Step 1: Open PowerPoint and Enter Text There.

Para Indent

Making ensuring PowerPoint is operational is the first step. After that, be sure you include all relevant material on a slide. You should decide where the dangling indent will be placed. The aim is to highlight one paragraph before starting if there are numerous paragraphs in a text box since each paragraph will be indented.

Step 2: Insert a paragraph indent.

Please choose the paragraph by highlighting it when everything is prepared, then go to the Home tab. Go to the Paragraph section of this tab and choose the "Dialog Box Launcher" icon in the bottom-left corner.

Para Indent

In order to modify and make the adjustments, a little window named Indent and Spacing should open.

Change the values to 0.5 inches in the Before Text section. Now, make sure you choose Hanging in the box under the "Special" portion of the other section. Finally, click OK. The paragraph should now be indented without any issues.

Step 3: Remove the paragraph's indent

The procedure is fairly same when it comes to taking off the indent from a paragraph. After selecting the indented paragraph, go back to the Indent and Spacing box, change the Before Text value from 0.5-inches to 0, the Special to None, and then click on the OK button to finish the operation.

Become the first among your coworkers to regularly use PowerPoint's Indent tool. It may alter how presentations are given and lead to a rise in confidence.
