G Suite Is a Paid Subscription Service
The difference between G-Suite and Google's other free apps is ambiguous to some people. One thing that has to be kept in mind is that G-Suite is enterprise-grade and has a lot of extras that are not part of Google's free consumer apps even if the names are the same.
Here’s a list of those extras:
- Administrative controls for user accounts.
- Custom business email address.
- You will get 30 GB of Google Drive space per user
- Every email and chat could be archived and you can control how long you can keep them.
- You can create different calendars for different purposes.
- You can keep your company's data secure across all devices by using Endpoint management.
The Cost Of G-Suite
According to the size of the teams and the companies, there are three versions of G-Suite available. You also get a 14-day free trial. And as you can adjust the number of team members anytime, the payment plans are flexible and Google will bill you accordingly every month.
Basic: You will get the basic plan starting from $6 per user / per month with every user getting 30 GB of secure shared storage across all Google apps including all of Google's productivity apps except Cloud Search, App Maker and Vault.
You will have a lesser limit of 100 participants on Google Meet and no live streaming for the ones who are on the same domain.
Business: You will get the business plan starting from $12 per user / per month. Here you will get the same features like the basic plan except that you will get unlimited storage for all users. The extras in this are Vault, App Maker and Cloud Search.
Enterprise: You will get the executive plan at $25 per user / per month. Here you will get all the features of the business plan with unlimited storage but supporting it with advanced security and administration controls, also the reporting features.
Individual apps have some extra facilities like you can live stream a presentation via Google Meet to a maximum of 100,000 users on the same domain.
Before buying a plan that is fit for your team you can compare the different G-Suite editions.
Getting Started With G Suite
Starting out with G-suite is quite simple. First, you have to opt for your plan and then select the Start Free Trial button and G Suite will take you through the registration process. You need to keep in mind that you are limited to 10 users in the trial period.
1. Select your team strength and country.
2. While signing in, instead of having the standard "@gmail.com", you will have a domain name that will be your unique address. Google can help you choose and buy one in case you don't have one
3. Your unique domain name will be your business email address. The Setup begins now
4. With the Setup, you move straight into the Admin Console. You will have to verify here that you own the domain name you used in the first steps. If the domain is bought through Google, this step is skipped.
5. Sign in to your domain host (the hosting service where you bought your domain name) and add the text verification code to your domain’s DNS records or DNS settings.
6. It takes Google only a few minutes to verify your domain. After that, you can add new users with email accounts. You can only add 10 users inside the trial period
7. After you have activated Gmail for your domain, you are ready to dive into G Suite and configure it for your enterprise. You can start migrating your organization's data, such as email, calendar, contacts, folders etc once it's all set up.
8. You can go to Google Admin console, then Billing, to set up a subscription plan.
