Troubleshooting "Network Proxy Settings" Error

When using Windows, we often see this yellow exclamatory sign (??) showed with a yellow triangle and a black exclamatory mark inside it, saying Windows could not automatically detect this network’s proxy settings. First, let us see why did the problem occur?

Fix 1. Restart the computer and router

Sometimes because of the heavy load on the router or trying to run with more bandwidth than that of the configured router may stop functioning. So restarting is a better idea here. Fix 2. Check Proxy settings in windows.

A proxy server acts as an intermediary between the internet and your system. Proxy servers are an excellent source for protection and performance. These proxy servers are generated automatically when you search something on the web and stores the information of your search as it contains all the previous caches that might include some vulnerable files that might stop your browser from responding, it’s a good practice to remove this proxy server before you begin. Sometimes the error can be fixed even here.

Follow the below steps to remove the proxy servers:

1. Firstly Press Win + R in to open run window, type inetcpl.cplin the run command prompt, and press Enter.
2. This will open the Internet Properties window; navigate through the Connections tab here.
3. Click on LAN settings.
4. Here, check whether the Use a proxy server for your LAN option is unchecked.
5. Uncheck it if we checked it and save the changes.

Fix 3. Activate the Network Adapter Administrator

In order to Activate the Network Adapter Administrator, right-click on the network connection button, now it runs the troubleshooter for Internet Connections, and this will display the error Windows could not detect proxy settings now another troubleshooter that provides you the detailed information of the problem that occurs.

Now Open Settings from there go to the Upgrade & Protection, Go to the Issue Fixing. Now you will see a list of collections, you need to select a Network Adapter from these to troubleshoot them. This might solve your problem, if it did not solve move on to the next one.

Fix 4. Automatically received IP address and DNS

The issue may occur because of configuration errors in the IP or DNS settings.

Follow these steps to make IP address and DNS receive automatically.

• Go to Settings, then go to Network & Internet and click on the Status. This will display all the connections that are linked to your network, now double-click on the adapter button.
• Now click on Properties and select the Internet Protocol (IP) version 4 in the list. Now enable automatically have an IP address and automatically pick the DNS server address here.

Fix 5. Check network driver

Old network drivers rarely support and create problems with the connections. Anyhow, replacing it with the new one if it is networking could clear the issue.

Now you have to roll back and install the new drivers.

In order to update the drivers automatically, follow the below-mentioned steps:

• Press (Windows + X) key, select Windows PowerShell. You will enter a screen-type verifier here and hit enter. After the operation completes, it will launch a Driver verifier Manager.
• Now, select the option Create standard settings from the options panel and click on Next.
• Choose Automatically select all drivers installed on this computer, then click on Next.
• After this, the PC will automatically restart and if there are internal driver errors, it will display them solving these errors will rectify the issue.

To update the drivers manually, follow the steps mentioned below:

• Go to search, then go to Device Manager, this displays a list of devices that are installed on your computer.
• Right-click on the devices which you find problematic and then click on Properties.
• Click Driver and click on Update Driver.
• Click on Search automatically for updated driver software. After then restart your computer.

Fix 6. Check Firewall, and Antivirus software,

The Antivirus and Firewall sometimes obstruct certain internet connections. We don't recommend disabling the Disable Antivirus and Firewall for security reasons, but you can ensure the internet is working by temporarily disabling it.

Disable Firewall:

• A firewall obstructs the browser of your system from connecting to the web if it finds some vulnerability. Sometimes, it might detect some wrong info, so in this case, disabling the firewall could help us.
• Go to the Control Panel, Click on System and Security and then click on Windows Firewall.
• You will see a pop-up where you need to click on to Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
• Select Turn off Windows Firewall and Click Ok, then apply and reboot your PC.
