Some Common Tech Myths you must not Believe

We are living in a modern world, where technology has taken a great leap and is becoming better and better every day. Remember the days, where we used to use our mobile phones for just calling and texting, and sometimes, playing the snake game. PS: I just love that game.

But now, there are so many high graphics games, with so many cool features, that smartphones and other emerging technologies have become more like our family member.

But, even with such advancements in the technology, there are still some myths lying around us, which are so commonly believed that we believe they are true, but it's time to unravel those lies.

MYTH 1: Charging Phone Battery Overnight

    Phone charging overnight

Ever heard about leaving your smartphone for charging overnight can damage your battery? This is not at all true. Smartphones are smart enough that they can take care of that. As soon as they get fully charged, they stop charging the battery and start using the connected adapter as its main power supply. No extra charge is passed to the battery and it is completely safe.

MYTH 2: More Megapixels = Better Camera

    more megapixels means better camera

Though it is somewhat correct that more megapixels mean a better camera, although that is not the only factor that decides the quality of the camera. Higher the number of megapixels the more accurate lens it demands with better sensors, camera setup etc for good quality pictures, and if this is not present, then the image quality will surely degrade, although there are more megapixels.

MYTH 3: Jailbreaking iPhones/ Rooting Android Phones is ILLEGAL

    jailbreak iphone root android

We can definitely root our Android phones and jailbreak our iPhones. But many people think jailbreaking and rooting is illegal. That is not true. It is completely legal to do this. But you have to take little caution, if you use that feature for downloading any copyrighted contents, then that is illegal and can place you in a problem.

MYTH 4: More Bars = More Network

more bars mean more network myth

The number of bars of network on your mobile screen is not an indication of the quality of the service. It is an indication of the signal strength of the cellular tower to which your phone is connected. If the cellular tower has a lot of devices to cater, then you will surely face call drops and network issues, although your smartphone would be displaying more bars. Similarly, if the cellular tower has fewer devices connected to it, then you would get a better call quality even though your mobile displays less network bars. But it is obvious, if there are no network bars, then there is no network in your device.

MYTH 5: Refreshing Windows makes it Faster

Ever pressed F5 or Right click and Refresh in windows to make it perform better?

Refresh is a command that reloads the contents of a window or Web page with the most current data. That’s it. It doesn’t make the Windows work faster. In fact, it makes the computer do more work for checking any changes.

MYTH 6: Shaking Polaroid Camera Pictures

    shaking polaroid camera pictures

Although this is not a technology related myth, it is a myth surrounding the usage of a tech product, a Polaroid Camera. Initially, when Polaroid cameras were launched, Fujifilm used to suggest shaking the picture because the freshly developed picture used to be a little moist and with all the chemicals used, shaking was suggested. Jump to current day, technology has advanced so much and along with it the art of printing pictures and the photos no longer require shaking, rather you should put it on a flat surface, warm and dark, like the camera pocket for sometime.
