What is the Unexpected kernel mode trap?
The error message UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE TRAP is a bug that shows the CPU has generated a trap that the kernel couldn’t catch finally entering the trap mode. This error causes the PC to crash and shows Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).
Reasons for the error UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE TRAP:
There are multiple reasons for this error.
Faulty RAM module
To diagnose this, you need to scan through the entire system if the problem occurred because of the faulty RAM module then replace the faulty RAM module.
Corrupted or an outdated driver.
If the Device drivers not configured properly, or not updated. If you use an older version of Windows and want to install new software to it, then you might encounter this error.
How to fix UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE trap:
1. Cleanup:
First Shut down your device so that information will not be lost and saved properly onto the hard disk. Disconnect the devices from the PC. Clean all the PCI components and again fix them to the computer and check whether the Unexpected kernel mode trap recurs.
2. Check new hardware
If the error occurs after the new hardware installation, then it might be because of that hardware. Then replace or remove the hardware and restart the computer to solve this.
3. Resolve hardware problems
Press (Windows+R) keys to open the Run dialogue. Type exe and press enter.
You’ll have two choices, Restart now and check for problems and check for problems next time I start my computer. Choose an option, after it displayed the diagnosis errors if any check them and rectify them.
4. Update drivers
In order to update the drivers automatically follow the below-mentioned steps:
Press ( Windows + X) key, select Windows Power shell. You will enter a screen, type verifier, here, and hit enter. After the operation completes, it will launch a Driver verifier Manager.
Now, select the option Create standard settings from the options panel and click on Next.
Choose Automatically select all drivers installed on this computer, then click on Next.
After this, the PC will automatically restart and if there are internal driver errors, it will display them solving these errors will rectify the problem.
To update the drivers manually follow the steps mentioned below:
Go to search then go to Device Manager, this displays a list of devices that are installed on your computer. Right-click on the devices which you find problematic and then click on Properties. Click Driver and click on Update Driver.
Click on Search automatically for updated driver software.
After then restart your computer
5. Uninstall and Reinstall the Device Driver:
Go to search then go to Device Manager this displays a list of devices that are installed on your computer. Locate the corrupted device in this list of devices, right-click that device, and then click on Uninstall now click OK. This will uninstall the device driver.
Now Right-click on your computer name in the Device Manager and choose Scan for hardware changes. This will automatically reinstall your device drivers. Then restart your computer to reflect these changes.
6. Install Latest Windows Update
To install the Latest Windows Update Click the Start button and then click Settings, then click on Update & Security, Here right-click on check for updates
This will automatically install the latest Windows update available.
