How to fix CPU fan error message in Linux

    The CPU fan error message appears:

    1. If we do not install it properly, the CPU fan or may have configurationally errors.
    2. If the CPU fan has a lower revolution speed than that of the configuration that was set by the BIOS, this will show you an error. To remove the error caused by the misconfiguration inputs to the BIOS, change your BIOS settings to optimal speed.
    3. It may also because of some external factors such as overheat of the fan, computer dust objects obstructing the device's to rotate.

    How to fix it?

    First, look into your case cabin by removing the CPU case lid and check whether your CPU fan works properly. If it's not working, then try the following things:

    1. Move your computer to a colder place. If we expose the Hardware devices more to the sunlight, then the device gets overheated, resulting in device failure. So if your device is not in a colder environment then try to bring it to the colder environment, this might decrease It's temperate to keep up its working.
    2. Next, clean the air vents is to remove the dust particles accumulated over there that obstruct the moment of your fan.
    3. It is always good to check the connections to the CPU components and make sure that everything is installed properly in its exact location. In case if we fix no connections, connect them and again try if it’s running properly.
    4. Check the wiring. If the wire fails, it will not allow the current to pass through them, ensure that you did proper wiring all the components of the fan could receive the current.
    5. If your CPU contains multiple slots to plug in the fan, then try for other slots too. This sometimes helps us in fixing the CPU fan error.

    If you see your fan works properly and still it is showing the error, then try the following things:

    Now we have to troubleshoot for the technical issues. Enter the Bios screen by clicking f2, f12, or delete buttons after rebooting your computer. You'll often be prompted to press F1 when you get the initial CPU error message. Pressing F1 when this message is visible will also open BIOS.

    1. Go to advanced modes or boot menu by pressing f7 or click on advanced modes by mouse, you could see so many options over there. Select the monitor option from those options, here select the CPU fan speed option. If we set your option by default to not applicable. Now change it to ignore it. Click on the not applicable option, and select ignore, then save the recent settings and exit from the bios.
    2. Another way to do this is to go to Advanced Settings then to Hardware Monitor then select CPU Fan. Here, Enable Active Heat Sink and Fan Duct with Fan. Disable Passive Heat Sink and Fan Duct without Fan. Save your changes and exit BIOS.
